Books For Cooks Archives

Sorry for such an amateur question. But I’m a college student living on my own. I have a college cook book and an ethnic one but see, often I eat spaghetti. I’d like to make my own meatballs & the books don’t describe the little details I asked in my question.

I currently own two andonized frying pans, a cookie sheet, and a casserole baking pan.

The PCOS Diet Cookbook? Or other PCOS Cook books?

Hi Ladies,

has anyone bought the The PCOS Diet Cookbook or any recipe book for PCOS? I’m really trying to eliminate carbs from my diet and I want to get some recipe books for healthier living. I have the "A Patient’s Guide to PCOS: Understanding–and Reversing–Polycystic Ovary Syndrome" book but it doesn’t really give you a large variety of recipes so I wanted to know if any one had any luck with cook book specifically for PCOS.

Thanks and advance for all your answers!!!

I have scoured the web and my cook books but find scant info. Some say mostly monosaturated fat, others say mostly protein, others say both.

I would like to know nutritional components and commonly believed benefits, e.g., it is good in chicken soup when you have a cold; or good for rebuilding strength after a chronic illness–things your grandma may have said about it.

Anybody have a good recipe for sole?

My fiance and I are trying different kinds of fish and bought a pound of sole. We looked in cook books and for recipes online, but I would rather get a recipe that people have actually tried and liked. Prefeably no breading and something simple.
It’s Me Again- amusing but I am looking for sole recipes.
Kimberly- MMMmmmm sound good!!!
Phatboy- Sounds yummy!!!

Are there any kosher cookbooks for Weight Watchers?

Hi! I am thinking about signing up for weight watchers to drop a few pounds and I wondered are there any kosher cook books for Weight Watchers? I would be so grateful if someone could help me! I have looked all day!
Best answer to the first person to help me find what I need! :D
- It needs to be kosher because I am Jewish, not really a diet choice. Every recipe I find mixes meat and cheese and I don’t really have time to figure out what to do there :(

Here are the facts as I’ve found them off the top of my head.

Democrats split up Obamacare from the Doc Fix & other measures to cook the books with the CBO & make it look like more coverage for more people would save money, which is basically fraud games they are playing.

Obama care will costs jobs & drive up the deficit. The reason the bill is 2300 pages long is so they could hide all the bullshit it puts in effect. The reason there was such an emergency to pass it that they couldn’t read it the same.

The reason taxes start now & coverage doesn’t start for years is so they could cook the books to make the costs seem low compared to the revenue. But the next time period won’t be fudged, by then they know it will be to late.

The Progressives are lying purposely to the people. That’s the truth of it. The Republicans are telling the truth. I’ve researched this pretty well & what I’ve said is documented. Here’s a link for the twisted Progs demanding links they could look up in seconds for themselves google.com

Do you have any facts about this that may shine further Illuminate the subject?
scratch [shine] in the last sentence
The CBO can only put out what the Politicians put in, they are honest, but the Democrats twisted things around so they CBO report would say what they wanted, but they just separated out the bill to make the part they called the Health Care Bill look better, but that’s not the whole thing or the whole effect. The whole effect is where the Whole truth is. They are using trikerations to lie to the people.

im thinking of making a tart and my cook book says i need confectioner’s sugar but i dont have any.so im just wondering if normal sugar would work for the tart.

Books for SUPER-LAZY cooks?

I need to lose some fat, but I HATE to cook!!! Really hate it! I can handle spaghetti and scrambled eggs, but anything more complicated and I won’t do it. I just won’t. That’s how lazy I am.

That said, are there any diet cookbooks geared for extremely lazy "cooks"?

Exercise and cardio are not the problem–I already walk/jog 45 min/3 days per week–not because I like it (I don’t!) but because I know there’s absolutely no way around it. But there’s gotta be some healthy, filling, diet recipes out there that don’t require more than 10 ingredients, or more than 30 minutes in the kitchen, tops, right?

I need a how-to book saying exactly what to eat and when, with recipes–like the South Beach Diet, only MUCH less varied & complicated. Please help!
p.s. I know that black beans & brown rice (healthy although gassy), plain scrambled eggs, leafy greens, salad with vinaigrette, plain tuna, and lean grilled chicken breast (touching raw chicken–yuck!), are all healthy and pretty non-fattening, even in large quantities, except for the rice. But those are all the "recipes" I know. I wish there was a book full of diet recipes of that simplicity level. Maybe there is?
I just saw the "A man, a can, and a plan" entry–hilarious! I had no idea guys got that book when going to college. However, canned goods use so much sugar and salt that it might not be a really good diet plan. Thanks, though! I might try it anyway…

Free cook books, where I can find it?

Cook books for free. Where they can be found?!

It is my dream to write cook books and have them published. I specialize in west coast cooking with a practical approach. It is my philosophy that cooking is an expresion of creativity. I love giving people inspiration and tools to express such creativity no matter what their financial circumstance. I have been translating my recipes to the written word for a year and a half and have enough for a cook book. I just have no clue what to do next. Some of what I have seen to publish sends up red flags to me. So I am looking for direction and viable contacts to pursue my dream.
